Sonu Nigam Biography
Sonu Nigam is a leading Indian singer who has received critical acclaim for singing in Bollywood and other regional films. Sonu Nigam can be called one of the best singers of modern times, with very melodious sounds and amazing versatility. From a very young age, Sonu was not only good at playing singers, but also easily tried different genres. So far, he has sung more than 2,000 songs in about 10 different languages. At the peak of his career, as the most popular male replay singer in Bollywood, Sonu announced that he decided to cut the same amount in 2006 to focus more on personal projects and stage performances.
Early life and education
Sonu was born on July 30, 1973 in Agam Kumar and Shobha Nigam in Faridabad, Haryana. Her sister sisters, Meenal and Nikita. He is graduated from Delhi University. He moved to Mumbai in 1990 and is interested in becoming a replay singer. Sonu Nigam married Madhurima Banerjee on February 15, 2002. The couple has a son, Neevan, who was born on July 27, 2007.
Sonu’s training began with the family. He has studied his father’s musical nuances since he was a child. He received training in classical music at Ustad Maha Naveed in Delhi. His passion for music transcends all other interests and he pursues it in a single-minded manner. When he was a teenager, he participated in many regional and national music competitions and won most of the competition. It was then that the idea of becoming a famous playback singer for Bollywood happened to him. He decided to move to Mumbai at the age of 18 and be accompanied by his father. Under the guidance of legendary classical music master Ustad Ghulam Mustafa Khan, he sought opportunities to continue his music training.
Sonu took his first break in a 1990 film, Janam, but the film was not released. He had a lot of confidence in the T-series contract, but he was frustrated when his song was rejected and he agreed to S. P. Balasubramaniam. T-series owner Gulshan Kumar was impressed with his talent and offered a singing contract for his newly project, Bewafa Sanam. The song ‘Achha Sila Diya Tune’ became a hit song and people began to sit up and watch the talented singer.
He struggled in the first few days in Mumbai because he didn’t get a lot of replay opportunities. He made some radio advertisements. His main source of income is the stage performance, as the double voice of Muhammad Delphi.
Sonu Nigam is relatively new in the role of music composer and has created several pieces of music in mainstream Bollywood movies, such as ‘Singh Saab the Great’ (2013), ‘Jal’ (2014), ‘Happy Anniversary’ (2016) and ‘Tum Jo Mil Gaye Ho’.
His talent has attracted many collaborative works from famous musicians from all over the world. After the death of legendary singer Michael Jackson, Sonu contributed a song to the tribute album “The Beat of Our Hearts”, including Judith Hill, Mike Thompson and Quincy Patrick. He sang at the inauguration of the 28th president of Harvard University at Harvard University in Sangeet.
So far, Sonu Nigam has won 29 nominations and 15 nominations. He won famous awards such as movie fares, Zee Cine Awards and National Film Awards. He won the highest award for Best Playback Singer Male with the title song of the movie ‘Kal Ho Na Ho’.
